Poetry Contest

Ok everyone, this contest is open to any willing to participate.

The rules are simple.
1) Keep it G rated.
2) Nothing of extensive length, please. (Look in my work, nothing longer than The Child’s Legend)
3) Only one entry per person. And please make it something a majority of us haven’t read.
4) Anything submitted after the deadline will not be accepted as an entry.

Please judge as you please. If you find a work exceptional, please post which poem and what you liked about it.

The deadline is one week from today, Tuesday the 23nd of June. And the voting will continue for two weeks after that date.

Oh, and the Poll option can only hold 10 options, so it would be greatly appreciated if (should there be more than 10 entries) this thread remain empty except for the entries until after the deadline. Could I get the admins to help me with this (since I don’t get on as often as you)?

Here's my entry.

Roses

Upon love’s beginning
A rose colored red.
Upon the grave’s shadow,
A rose that is dead.

And Fate leads us to both.
The immortal rose.
And, as Fate’s will be done,
Only the rose knows.

And when, as time passes,
The rose of scarlet
Fades to long lasting ash,
Memories remain…

Here's my poem hope I'm not late in posting it:

WAR

Stuck in the cross fire,
Of a never ending war.
Death and destruction,
Banging at the door.
You might win the battle,
but you just can't win the war.
When fear and failure take control,
Is anything right, does anyone know?

When the battle is lost,
and the casualities numbered.
When families and friends,
Do nothing but suffer.
Will anyone realize what has been lost?
Can anyone realize,
What one war can cost?
When so many lives are gone,
You'd think we could all just get along.

I care not whether you vote for me or her. I just care that you vote honestly and by what you belive is better.
If we had more entrants, I'd have found that winning would be a lot harder with the work I entered. I wrote it in under 20 minutes, and that's the original draft, so it's pretty good.

If she wins, so be it. I'd understand perfectly and hold no grudge. I just want to see who the members think is the better.
